What is Home Science?

Home Science deals with day-to-day science of life and living. It includes understanding food, health, child development, textiles, home management and community work. The course helps students develop scientific, managerial and communication skills needed in family, community and professional settings.

Key themes include: food and nutrition, human development, textiles and clothing, family resource management, communication and extension, and human ecology & community science.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must have passed 12th standard (HSC) or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • English must be one of the subjects at the 12th level.
  • Candidate should have passed with any four academic or vocational subjects (as per SNDT Women’s University norms).
  • For some specializations (e.g. Food Science & Quality Control), science subjects may be preferred.
